Barton blast the field at Harborwalk Hustle

Captain Jack Barton

Charlie Barton made a statement during the final tour stop of the 2015 season in the Yellowfin Elite Redfish Series this past week. Barton lead wire to wire and set a pace that had the other anglers fishing for second from the first day.

The closest anglers after day 1 was Yellowfin pro, Gritter Griffin who happened to hammer the fish on day 1 but found himself over 3 pounds behind Barton at the conclusion of day 1’s weigh in.

Barton increased his lead after 2 days to nearly 5 pounds with Jeff Steckler stepping up to the second spot.

By his own admission Royal Purple Pro, Charlie Barton has struggled in season 2 on the Yellowfin Elite Redfish Series and when his motor began idling rough on day 2 and later would not idle at all, here we go again, began to creep into the back of his head.

However, those thoughts were quickly put to rest on day 3 when Barton, launching first and leading the field out of Harborwalk Marina made it to his fish and picked up where he had left off on the 2 days previous.

Day 3 was his 3rd great bag of the week with just under 24 pounds, now all this Elite Series pro had to do was make it back. He did, “pulling into the marina was the first time I felt comfortable all day and the first time I felt like I had it won”.

Charlie was right, no one was catching this pro, this week, this was his week and as a fellow competitor stated “it’s a long time coming, congratulations Charlie”. Charlie is a popular figure with his fellow pros on the Yellowfin Elite Series and someone that everyone cheers for.

Early on day 3 while anglers were waiting to launch you could hear his fellow competitors shouting to him from their boats, “Charlie, do you have my number in case you break down”. “Hey Charlie make sure you put my number in your phone I’m fishing near you and if anything happens I can bring you in” on and on the echoes of true sportsmanship could be heard throughout the basin in those pre dawn moments prior to the launch of the top 10 on day 3.

This was a great achievement for this pro, standing atop this field of anglers after 5 days of practice and 3 days of competition is quite a remarkable achievement. The best of the best battle it out head to head with no team mates and non draw partners in a series custom build for the Elite angler.

It’s hard, it’s intense, it’s not for everybody, this tour is jam packed with challenges, hurdles and most of all, Elite anglers that have won on every level of every circuit since professional redfishing began.

Congratulations Charlie, you hammered the fish, you beat the best of the best and as usual, you did it with class, style and in a typical Texas big way!

Your chariot awaits, the beautiful Yellowfin/Yamaha/Ameratrail boat motor package will be one that we know you will be proud to have won.

Team Barton ends 2012 season with a top 10 finish

Captain Jack Barton

Team Barton finished 7th in the last HT Redfish Series tournament of the 2012 season and ended up in 12th place overall for TOTY. The folks in Slidell really rolled out the red carpet for the tour & it's anglers.

"This event was the most awesome event we have ever experienced on our 9+ years of tournament fishing. If you have never been to Slidell La you need to go. I can honestly say I now know what celebrities must feel like. THANK YOU SLIDELL!! Also congratulations to Shawn & Ryan for their win in Slidell and Clark & Dwayne for there back to back TOTY win!! Thanks also to Pat and the HT Series crew for working so hard to help the sport of professional Redfishing grow into what it is today..... Can't wait to see what the future has in store."

Charlie Barton

"We would not be able to do this without the help of our sponsors. Majek Boats & Evinrude Outboards played a huge part in making this final event a success for us. Without the 25' Majek Extreme powered by our 300 HP Evinrude Outboard, the long run we made down to Venice would not have been possible."

Team Barton goes for the win

Captain Jack Barton

Team Barton was back in action this past weekend pulling double duty & fishing 2 Texas events. Charlie & Jack were fishing in the 3rd event of the season on the HT Professional Redfish Tour in Port Aransas Texas while Cody & family friend Sonny Leal were fishing in the final event of the season in the Texas Redfish Series out of Port O'Conner Texas.

Tough fishing conditions took their toll on both teams this past weekend but when it was all said & done, Team Barton gave it their all & represented their sponsors to the fullest.

Charlie & Jack were fish HT tournament which is a 3 day event where everyone fishes the first two days of competition & only the top ten teams go on to fish the third & final day. Unfortunately the Barton brothers finished the event in 23rd place.

It would be up to Cody & Sonny to salvage the weekend & they did not disappoint, finishing their tournament in 9th place! Cody & Sonny also earned themselves a 4th place finish in the Texas Redfish Series Team of the Year race.

Team Barton gambles in Lake Charles to make the top 10

Captain Jack Barton

The 2nd HT Professional Redfish Series event of the 2012 season was held @ the L'Auberge Casino & Resort in Lake Charles Louisiana & Team Barton is proud to announce they have broken the "HT ice" & made their way into the top 10 for the first time this season.

For the second tournament in a row weather conditions would prove to play a major role in the outcome of the tournament. The weather for practice days was beautiful but as tournament day approached mother nature quickly changed her tune.

Team Barton weighed in a 10.99 lb bag on day 1 putting them in 18th place going into the second day of competition. With a rain delay holding everyone back until 10AM on day 2, it was anybodys game. When the scales closed on day 2 the Barton boys had climbed back into the top 10 with a day 2 bag that weighed 13.20 lbs & giving them a 2 day total of 24.19 lbs, good enough for 9th place going into day 3.

They say that to win tournaments @ this level you have to do better each day of competition. Well Team Barton did exactly that & came in with a day 3 bag that weighed 15.43 lbs & moved them into 6th place with a total weight of 39.62 lbs.

Team Barton would like to thank Royal Purple for their continued support throughout this tournament season.

Royal Purple Introduces NMMA FC-W® CAT Licensed Marine Oils & 80W-90 Gear Lube

Captain Jack Barton

Team Barton is proud to announce the release of Royal Purples new line of marine oils & gear lube. This new product line is specifically geared toward the marine industry & is sure to make a difference in marine engines across the board. Below is some information about the new product line.

Marine engines are commonly exposed to harsh conditions such as high loads, high speeds, and exposure to elevated levels of humidity and salt water. Boaters looking for the best protection for their engines can now use Royal Purple’s new line of NMMA FC-W Catalyst Compatible® multi-vis 30-weight and 40-weight, four-stroke High Performance Marine (HPM) engine oils.

FC-W Catalyst Compatible® designation is given by the National Marine Manufacturer's Association (NMMA) for oils that have been tested, and have exceeded the performance requirements of bench tests for viscosity, corrosion, filter plugging, foaming and aeration.

FC-W® (CAT) licensed oils must successfully pass a 100-hour general performance engine test. Currently, there are only four marine engine oils that meet this standard including Royal Purple’s multi-vis 30 and 40 weight oils.

In addition to the FC-W® (CAT) marine engine oils, Royal Purple will also introduce their new SAE 80W-90 Gear Lube to the marine product market.

These new products geared towards the marine oil consumer carry the same proven performance and product benefits that Royal Purple brand is synonymous for with their advanced additive lubricant technology, Synerlec®.

The Synerlec® creates an ionic bond that adheres to metal parts to provide continuous protection even at start-up and strengthens the oil to provide unparalleled performance and protection. It provides high film strength that prevents contact between metal parts and improves sealing inside the engine for more complete combustion and dramatically reduced wear. Royal Purple remains on the metal surface long after ordinary lubricants would have been squeezed out by pressure and heat. Over time, the metal surface becomes extremely smooth and can even develop a mirror-like surface.

Royal Purple produces synthetic products for all your marine needs including: Motor Oil, Break-in Oil, Gear Oil, 2-cycle Engine Oil, Racing 2-cycle Engine Oil and Assembly Lube.

Team Barton opens the season in Chalmette, LA

Captain Jack Barton

The first Tournament of the year was the Academy HT3 last weekend in Chalmette La. We arrived in Chalmette Sat afternoon hoping to get 4 days of pre-fishing in before the tournament. Well we ended up getting two ok days of pre-fishing in before the weather went south. It was terrible with winds exciding 40mph with rain. Wednesday we could not take it any more so we went out anyway it was quite an experience. To make a long story short we did fair to well, we ended up in 19th place after day two and did not make the cut to fish on day 3. Day one we weigh in 15.69lb and were in 8th place and not even a .5lb out of 2nd place. On day two we had an awesome stringer of approx.. 16.35lbs, unfortunately one of our fish measured a little over and was dq'd. This made for a very quiet &long disappointing ride home. This fish can be seen on the HT web-site go to the Chalmette event--- Then pictures--- Then fish that did not make it. It was very close as you can see. As for our equipment, everything went great. I was a little worried due to the fact that we did not even have time to put the boat in the water and run it before we left. Our Illusion did great and out Evinrude performed top notch. Special thanks needs to go out to Majek Boats, Kresta’s Marine, Evinrude Outboards, Power Pole & Compadres Ink for really stepping up to the plate and getting the boat rigged and ready in such a short period of time. If I may say the boat looks and runs awesome it is defiantly a head turner… Thanks Guys! Also Congratulations to team # 14 Eddie Adams & Sean O’Connell for their remarkable win in Chalmette and to all of the other top 10 teams, it was an awesome tournament. We will be looking forward to seeing everyone soon in Lake Charles…

On a better note Cody (my son) and Sonny Leal fished the Texas Redfish Series in Port “A” last Saturday. They faired a little better than Jack and I. they ended up in 8th place weigh in 15.84lbs. There were some awesome stringers brought in on this tournament compared to years passed. The top three stringers were in the 17lb range. Sonny and Cody were very proud of their 8th place finish and have put themselves in a good position for a run at TOTY… Good job guys!!

This year we will be fishing three circuits; Texas Redfish Series, IFA and the HT3 Series. This will be the most we have ever tried to fish in a year. I don’t think there is another team on the Gulf Coast fishing three complete series. In order to be able to do this we will be using Sonny Leal to fish with us in the TRS due to conflicting tournaments dates. Sonny is a very good person and an excellent fisherman and we are very proud to have him on board.

Some of you have been asking for our schedule for the year so here you go:

March 22 >24 -------Chalmette La ------------HT3 ----- 19th place
March 24th -----------Port “A” ----------------- TRS ------ 8th Place
April 14th -------------Port “A” ------------------ IFA -----
April 21st -------------Galveston ---------------- TRS-----
May 10 > 12th ------- Lake Charles La.----------HT3-----
May 19th ------------- Port “A” ------------------TRS-----
June 2nd -------------- POC ---------------------- Stabin Cabin –
June 9th -------------- Rockport ----------------- IFA----
June 23rd ------------- Freeport ---------------- TRS----
July 19th > 21st -------Port “A” ----------------- HT3 ----
July 21st ---------------Port Lavaca ------------- TRS----- Championship
July 28 >29th --------- Galveston --------------- Third Stone
Aug 11th -------------- Port “A” ----------------- Majek Owners
Aug 18th --------------Port Isabel --------------- API
Sept 22 > 23 --------- Corpus --------------------IFA Regional Event
Sept 28 > 29th -------- SPI ------------------------Redfish Rodeo
Oct 11th ----------------Destin FL.----------------HT3

As you can see it will be a very demanding year we could not do it without the help of each and every one of our sponsors.

Speaking of sponsors, If anyone would like to try any or our sponsor’s products please let us know and we will set up a demo for you at any of these locations. When we are not fishing tournaments we are usually in the POC area.

Thank you very much.
